The Community Involvement Program serves as a framework to carry out policies from Chapter 2 — Community Involvement, of the 2035 Comprehensive Plan, and will apply to legislative land use and transportation projects initiated by the City of Portland. This Early Implementation Project provides a structure and guidance for staff and community members to continuously learn, adapt and refine practices for meaningful, inclusive involvement.
The Community Involvement Program is one of eight projects that implement Portland’s 2035 Comprehensive Plan, adopted by the Portland City Council on June 15, 2016. The Planning and Sustainability Commission (PSC) received testimony on each Early Implementation project between October 2015 and July 2016. The PSC voted on August 23, 2016, to approve and consolidate these projects into an “Early Implementation Package,” which is now moving forward to City Council for consideration. This package is the final stage of the state-required periodic review of Portland’s Comprehensive Plan.
