Meeting #4 Recap - Brooklyn Working Group discusses transportation priorities

Close to 20 people attended the fourth meeting for the Brooklyn Station Areas project on Thursday, March 27. Community members discussed transportation-related issues and concerns for the neighborhood, and then brainstormed potential projects that could address those issues over the next 20 years. Staff from the Bureau of Transportation and the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability were on hand to answer questions and record concerns and ideas.

Attendees expressed significant concerns about the barriers that surround the neighborhood, including McLoughlin, Powell, Holgate and the railroad tracks. Increasing connections along and across these difficult spots, particularly for pedestrians and bikes, is a priority for residents to increase safety and access to nearby neighborhoods. Although attendees strongly support projects to improve conditions in all of these places, upgrading pedestrian and bicycle facilities along Holgate Boulevard is a priority for the area.

Meeting materials (including the PowerPoint presentation) are available on the documents webpage.
