The Cully-Concordia Community Action Plan is a partnership between the City, Portland Public Schools and the community to improve the quality of life for children and families in the Cully and Concordia neighborhoods. The Portland City Council approved an assessment report and action plan in November 2008, and the next November City staff and community partners presented an Annual Report to City Council to share the successes of the year and present the group’s activities for 2010.
One success story is the establishment of a SUN Community School Program at Harvey Scott School for the 2009/10 school year. An activity for 2010 is to complete an Early Childhood Development Needs Assessment for the area.
The Cully-Concordia Community Action Plan focuses on four goal areas: education, economic development, infrastructure and community services, and community building. There is widespread community involvement on this initiative from residents, business people, local schools, institutions and non-profit organizations.
