For the holidays I organized a swap event for children's clothes, toys and books amongst friends. I had a box of toys I was going to donate and instead I thought that perhaps a friend or two could use some for Christmas gifts. The idea developed from there and now I organize a monthly swap event with a different theme. It takes place the last Saturday of every month from 11:30-2:00 and is free and open to the public. Getting people I know and care about together to think about what they truly need and alternatives to throwing away unused items is very rewarding. Meeting new people through this action is a plus. It's fun and saves money and prevents waste. How can that do anything but add to your life?
