Substantive Changes:

1) The first phase of the Citywide Tree Project code amendments includes several "flexible development standards" (parking, pedestrian paths) to encourage tree preservation.  The amendments also:

  • Add the Comprehensive Natural Resource Plan tool for large sites with natural resources and long term development or restoration objectives;
  • Add requirements to record tree preservation plans when approved through a land division; and
  • Make tree regulations in several plan districts and overlay zones more clear and consistent.

2) Add a general development standard to the Environmental Overlay Zone requiring removal of invasive plants and replanting with native plants.  This applies to new development only.  This was adopted in February 2010 as part of the Invasive Plants project.
