Project staff recently collected information to build an inventory of existing Market Gardens, Food Membership Distribution Sites, and Farmers Markets. Those included in the inventory established their right to continue to operate—at the level they are currently operating—even if they don’t meet the new regulations approved by City Council.
Inclusion in the inventory was offered as a service through June 6, 2012; the inventory is now closed. Those not on the inventory have the same rights as those on the inventory, but may be required to go through a more rigorous process to document that they existed to be eligible for “grandfather rights.”
City Council will hold a hearing on this project June 7, 2012 at 2 p.m.
