Property owners/managers are required to provide:
- Adequate garbage and recycling collection capacity for glass, paper, plastic and metal for the community;
- Recycling information within 30 days of move-in; and,
- Updated recycling information once a year.

What can and can't go into your recycling container?
The garbage and recycling collection area should have two kinds of recycling containers, each clearly labeled for collecting these materials:
- Glass in one container, and
- Metal, plastic and paper in another.
Not all types of glass, metal, plastic and paper are accepted in home recycling. Follow these instructions for preparing your recycling, or find more recycling options.
A note about food scrap composting
Multifamily communities are not included in the new curbside collection program. However, food scrap collection service is available. The City is currently working with dozens of multifamily properties who are currently composting. After we determine the best ways to implement food scrap collection at multifamily sites citywide, we will develop educational materials and tools to assist multifamily residents and property managers who want to start composting Stay tuned for more information this September!
