The Kilowatt Crackdown is a fun, free competition among Portland-area buildings to see who can save the most energy and reduce operating expenses. The initiative provides building owners and tenants assistance in benchmarking energy use, analyzing opportunities for savings, and identifying action items to improve building performance.
We’re looking for office buildings larger than 25,000 square feet to participate. To be eligible, at least half of your building’s square footage should be office space.
Kilowatt Crackdown participants receive:
- Free training, technical support and data review to track performance with ENERGY STAR, an online tool that allows comparison to other office buildings nation-wide.
- Recommendations and best practices to reduce energy use and operating costs.
- Free Energy Star Certification and “Energy Coach” to help develop energy saving initiatives for qualifying buildings.
- Metro-wide recognition for participation.
Multiple prizes will be awarded, and there is no cost to participate.
The contest takes place from January 2013 until May 2014. Registration closed on January 31.
