Efforts to address environmental and economic well-being in thePacific Northwestare some of the most innovative in the country. Recent reports indicate, however, a growing “green divide,” where the environmental and economic benefits of sustainability efforts are unevenly distributed along race and class lines, replicating unsustainable systems of inequity and that ultimately lead to destabilization. Coupled with a rapidly diversifying population, addressing equity is essential to the success of sustainability efforts.
