Contents of Update Packet #158 (effective 05/10/13)

This Code update is the result of the Parking and New Apartments Project and will be effective May 10, 2013.

Code Update Packet: 158
Effective Date: May 10, 2013
Contact: Matt Wickstrom (503-823-2834)
Amends Chapters: 33.130, 33.140, 33.266, 33.460, 33.521, 33.526

Substantive Changes
The code changes affecting parking regulations for multi-dwelling development were the result of community concerns about the impacts that these new developments may have on surrounding neighborhoods. Substantive changes to the Zoning Code include the establishment of parking minimums for larger scale residential development located in certain zones and in close proximity to transit.

Amendments also include:

  • Clarification of building main entrance requirements on transit streets and within specific areas.
  • Incentives to reduce minimum parking subject to a maximum cap.
  • Refinement of loading space requirements.
  • Setting size requirements for long-term bicycle parking.
  • Options to allow joint use of residential parking.
  • Increasing allowed proximity to nonresidential off-site parking.
