Key Points and Outcomes
- Refined suggestions for Community Involvement policy changes in Chapter 1 and elements of Chapter 8; and preferred reorganization of the Community Involvement-related goals and policies.
Welcome, Meeting Overview and Introductions
Deb Meihoff reviewed the process to close out the CI PEG work in June. PEG members noted concern that there will be a lack of closure in the final proposed Comprehensive Plan policy document. They would like to understand and hear how their suggestions are eventually used to edit the draft that is forwarded to the Planning and Sustainability Commission. Marty will work with BPS management to see if there is an opportunity for a community and/or PEG meeting later in the fall to review the final proposed draft document. Each of the PEGs are bringing their policy work to a close by June and PEGs that are reviewing map-based topics will carry on for few more months to help frame the Comprehensive Plan Map (Part 2) discussion with the community. All PEGs will end their service by late summer / early fall. There are many other stakeholder groups who will continue to be involved with draft reviews, including the PIAC.
FACILITATED DISCUSSION: Discuss and Refine Recommendations for Changes to the Working Draft (6:05 p.m. / 90 minutes)
Facilitator: Deb Meihoff
Summary: Paul Leistner, with the assistance of the PIAC work group, conducted a gap analysis of the community involvement goals and policies in the Working Draft against best practices from literature review and public feedback from the community survey and workshops. The PEG discussed possible revisions to address better the public feedback and best practices. Their suggest revisions and additional commentary is summarized by policy in the tables below. Project-specific policies and goals will be reviewed at an interim meeting of the CI PEG in late May or early June.
