Community Involvement Policy Expert Group

Meeting No. 13

Meeting Goals

  • Close out the work of the CI-PEG: finalize PEG Summary Memo, discuss process and community involvement opportunities going forward.


Welcome, Meeting Overview and Introductions
(6:00 p.m. / 5 minutes)

FACILITATED DISCUSSION: Final Discussion of Suggestions for Goals and Policy Refinements (6:05 p.m. / 60 minutes)

Facilitator: Deb Meihoff

Description: The PEG, with assistance from the PIAC Comprehensive Plan Work Group, has reviewed the Working Draft for incorporation of best practices in community involvement resulting in suggested reorganization and changes Chapters 1 and 8. The facilitated discussion will get clarification on outstanding policy ideas and will conduct a final review of the draft Goal statements.

Discussion will be structured around these questions:

  • Any last revision to the suggested structure: nesting of policies by ongoing policy, project-specific policy, administrative policy (Chapter 8), or community involvement manual (accompanying manual, not in the Comprehensive Plan document)? Is the link to the Manual document tight enough?
  • Are there topics or ideas that emerged from the recent policy review, but are missing from the Working Draft Goals in Chapter 1? At previous meetings, the PEG surfaced the need to add a policy supporting the ongoing development of ‘Civic Infrastructure’ - does this also need to be a goal? The PEG has also discussed the need for an additional goal in Chapter 8 to connect the community involvement program to Chapter 1 policies. Are others needed?

Final Draft CI PEG Summary Memorandum (7:05 p.m. / 20 minutes)

Facilitator: Deb Meihoff

Description: The draft memo has been revised to reflect meeting discussions and comments submitted by PEG members.  The final discussion will focus on the Key Elements of CI Improvements - do these adequately capture desired outcomes for new Comprehensive Plan policy? What is missing or could be stated more accurately?

 

Public Comment (7:25 p.m. / 10 minutes)

 

PEG Wrap Up Discussion (7:35 p.m. / 25 minutes)

Facilitator: Deb Meihoff

  • Comprehensive Plan Update process going forward - what to expect, anticipated schedule, opportunities for involvement
  • PIAC Comprehensive Plan Work Group - role and content of work going forward through the Comprehensive Plan update; relationship to the final work of the PEG
  • PEG DISCUSSION: Reflections and final thoughts on participating on the PEG, the process, outcome, and ideas for improvements to similar processes in the future.
