Inner SE Station Areas Project Update

The Inner SE Station Area Planning effort, which will update the vision and long-range plan for the areas around the four new close-in SE Portland light rail stations at OMSI, Clinton, Rhine and Holgate, kicked off in June. The second Station Area Working Group Meeting was held on July 17, 2013. Continuing the discussion from the first meeting in June, participants gathered around maps to identify opportunities and challenges related to the upcoming light rail stations. Feedback from the July working group meeting will feed into a two-day concept development charrette, held August 20 and 21. The project team will share the results of the charrette at a public open house on August 22. See below for more charrette information.

Station Areas Concept Charrette – Join us!

You are invited to participate in an upcoming charrette, where City staff and consultants will work with area stakeholders to develop initial land use, urban design and transportation concepts for the four new SE station areas. The results and products of the charrette will be used to explore potential recommendations about the future character of these station areas and potential implementation strategies.

The charrette will take place over three days and will include two work sessions and an open house. A preliminary agenda is provided below. Feel free to attend all or a portion of the events, depending on your availability and level of interest.

But what the heck is a charrette?

A charrette is an intense period of design or planning activity. Often used to bring together multiple stakeholders during one timeframe, a successful charrette will generate many ideas and promote joint ownership of solutions.
