Natural Hazards and Drainage Constraints

Proposed changes in Portland’s Comprehensive Plan will help protect health and public safety, avoid increasing natural hazard risks, and acknowledge limited infrastructure and services. In this video, Environmental Planner Roberta Jortner explains the reasons behind proposed down designations in parts of Southwest and East Portland with drainage problems and natural hazards such as landslides.

East Portland

Proposed changes in Portland’s Comprehensive Plan also acknowledge limited infrastructure and services. In this video, the City’s East Portland District Liaison Chris Scarzello explains the reasons behind proposed down designations to land use in areas of East Portland. These are intended to address problems where current zoning has allowed population growth to outpace improvements to infrastructure and school capacity.
