Master Recyclers are a volunteer corps who inspire neighbors and coworkers into action!

Registration is open for the September/October 2015 Washington County course. Deadline for applications is Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 12 pm.

Learn from the experts

Join 30 recycling enthusiasts in an eight-week course. Learn from innovative leaders about topics such as:

  • sustainable consumption,
  • fixing and reuse,
  • the sharing community,
  • toxics reduction,
  • green building,
  • recycling and compost processing,
  • the global markets in which recycables are bought and sold.

Take tours and get skills

Tour recycling centers, compost facilities, and hazardous and municipal waste sites to see firsthand how these systems work. And connect to resources and learn skills that will help you make meaningful change for yourself and your community.

Join the team 

You will be a part of a team of over 1,400 Master Recyclers from Forest Grove to downtown Portland, St Johns to Canby and Sandy.

Earn Master Recycler Certification by attending the course and volunteering 30 hours. Registration is open for the September/October 2015 Washington County course.

  • WHAT: Washington County 8-week spring course and 30 hour volunteer program.
  • WHEN: Eight consecutive Wednesdays 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. starting on September 9 and two Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm on September 19 and October 17.
  • WHERE: Hosted by Washington County at Washington Street Center 225 S. First Avenue, Hillsboro
  • COST: $50 fee.
  • Partial and full scholarships are available without extra application requirements.
