About Altiris

The Altiris Client Management Suite (CMS) includes several desktop management tools designed for IT support staff.  The benefit of the Altiris tools is that they provide IT support staff with the ability to automate tasks performed in support of your computer hardware and software.  The end result is more efficient and effective computer support for you.

The Altiris CMS tools include:

Remote Control - The remote control tool provides Help Desk, Technical Support, and Technical Services staff with the ability to access your computer remotely with your permission.  This feature is used to diagnose and resolve your machine and software problems.  In many cases this eliminates the need for desktop visits and provides quicker service to you.

Inventory - The inventory tool provides the ability to automatically track and manage city/bureau hardware and software.  Inventory is automatically collected weekly and sent to a database providing up-to-date information.  This tool provides for automated capture of data and saves time and effort in conducting physical inventories and manually entering information into databases.

Software Distribution - The software distribution tool provides the ability to run software installs and updates remotely.  This tool provides automation of distributing software updates to many customers with the ability to minimize disruption to production.  Formalized processes and procedures for use of this tool are in development.

Imaging / System Deployment The imaging tool automates pc setup and deployment.  This tool provides automation of pc setups by cloning hardware, software, and personal settings for application to another computer.  This results in IT support efficiencies and time-saving through the automation of the computer setup tasks.
