FIS Project

The current aging Fire Information System (FIS) applications were custom-built over a period of time by Portland Fire and Rescue (PF&R) to meet their information management needs.  However, Microsoft support for the FIS development environment has expired. Without this support new and advanced features will be more difficult, if not impossible, to implement, and interfaces with upgraded software will be more difficult to maintain.

The purpose of this project is to port the FIS to a modern and supported development platform. Additionally, this project intends to implement enhancements that are inherent in the new .NET architecture and establish the future ability to develop mobile capabilities.
