March 20, 2011

4:12 PM

At approximately 12:53 pm today, Portland firefighters responded to 9234 SE Division when neighbors called reporting smoke in an apartment at that location. Firefighters arrived and found an apartment filled with smoke caused by a small fire inside. Firefighters also found an adult male down in one of the bedrooms.

The man was removed from the apartment by firefighters and was transported to Providence Medical Center for treatment. He was conscious when he was transported. The man was the only one in the apartment when firefighters arrived. The reason that the man was down has yet to be determined. Investigators will have more information after talking to the individual.

The fire was quickly extinguished. Investigators are working to determine the cause and a damage estimate. This information will be made available as soon a possible.
