Lila in Training

Daily Training
Lila is fed three times a day but only if she is "working". Lieutenant Jackson performs training drills with her three times a day and rewards her with food when she correctly alerts during the drills. This daily training keeps her nose strong and her skills sharp.

Annual Training
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) hosts a mandatory annual training/ recertification seminar for canine teams including Lieutenant Jackson and Lila.  During this seminar, the team's proficiency is tested (recertified), and the handlers are required to produce their training logs from the previous year.  These seminars include formal training on the latest advances in canine health and safety, as well as legal updates, practical field exercises, and formal testing.
