There are several and various positions that volunteers and interns hold here at the Gateway Center. Your preference, skills, education and experience may determine which positions you will be assigned. You may also design your own volunteer/intern position. For more detailed descriptions of the positions, please contact administration at GatewayCenter@portlandoregon.gov or call us 503.988.6400 and press 0. The list below is just some of what our volunteers have done for us here.
Advocate Assistant - supports Navigators in their roles with participants
Transportation Aide - pick up and aide in various donations and moving requests for participants and Administration.
Office Aide - Assists in supporting front office responsibilities, reception and various tasks such as filing, copying, helping participants fill out basic forms.
Attorney for Civil Legal Issues - Pro-bono attorney who volunteers time to help participants fill out civil legal forms and give legal advice.
Create Group Activities - Designing activities for children/teens during office hours while parents work with Navigators and On-Site partners.
Raise Funds - Work with other volunteers or on your own on creating ideas to fundraise for the center. Solicit donations.
Hospitality Volunteer - Assists participants and children by welcoming them to the center and accompanying them to the main participant areas of the center.
Clothing Closet - Organize and sort incoming donations.

A serious security vulnerability known as "Heartbleed" was recently discovered in OpenSSL, a popular software library commonly used by many websites on the internet to encrypt communication between a user's computer and a web server.
PortlandOregon.gov is NOT affected by this vulnerability as it does not use the OpenSSL software library. Please rest assured we are dedicated to protecting your security on this website.
