IPR Assistant Director Anika Bent-Albert was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, to parents who had emigrated from Jamaica. She graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in Political Science in 1999, and received her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law in 2002. After graduating law school, Anika was a Staff Attorney for the New York City Administration for Children's Services. For a time, she then pursued her interest in the media and it's intersection with the law as an Associate Producer for Court TV, now Tru TV. Returning to legal practice, Anika worked in the Government Contracts department of the engineering firm Parsons Brinckerhoff. Most recently, prior to her current role at IPR, she was Assistant General Counsel for the New York City Department of Correction.
Anika enjoys traveling, indie music and spending time with her husband, two young daughters and their rescue dog, Rose.
