MONDAY, FEB. 11 – An estimated 100 people showed up at City Hall on Saturday for a rally sponsored by One Million Moms for Gun Control.
Mayor Charlie Hales spoke, along with State Sen. Ginny Burdick, who has proposed legislation during the 2013 Oregon legislative session to curb gun violence.
Hales, who took office last month, has made it a priority to push for laws and legislation that would reduce the amount of illegal gun violence in the nation.
Hales is among approximately 800 mayors across the nation to join Mayors Against Gun Violence, which is calling for state and federal action to address the growing epidemic of gun violence.
The organization also is taking apart in a movement called Demand a Plan, which is calling on the Obama Administration and Congress to address gun violence prevention.
