MONDAY, FEB. 25 – Mayor Charlie Hales – who knows his way around a tool belt and weekend projects – attended last Saturday’s Fix-It Fair at Ron Russell Middle School in Southeast Portland.

Fix-It Fairs are free events sponsored by the city of Portland, at which people can learn simple ways to save money and connect with resources, join their neighbors and talk to the experts about how to spend less and stay healthy.

Topics, workshops and displays focus on such areas as water and energy savings; food and nutrition; recycling, weatherizing; yard care and composting; blood testing; and much more.

Fix-It Fairs were offered in November, January and February. More will be scheduled for the coming year.
