Patrick began work for the CIty of Portland in 2004 at the Bureau of Development Services and, later, the Office of Neighborhood INvolvement (ONI). One of his ONI duties included staff support for the Portland Commission on Disability (PCOD). He joined the Office of Equity and Human Rights with the movement of PCOD to this office.
He is a longtime resident of Portland with a background in communications, social justice, and community outreach. An early career path began in the publishing industry where he became involved with issues of representation and social justice. After working five years at the NW Labor Press and another seven years at the Union Register, he enetered public service and worked for the State of Oregon.
