Kenya photoKenya comes to The Office of Equity and Human Rights as a veteran, trainer, facilitator, and mediator in private practice. She has been mediating since 2004 and training individuals on diversity and equity in the workplace since 2003. Kenya has focused her diversity work on creating safe and respectful conversation, where race, ability, gender, and privilege can be explored in a paradigm that promotes key concepts found in Cognitive Behavioral Theory, conflict resolution, motivational interviewing techniques and transformative facilitation models.

Kenya has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Deaf Education; from the University of Maryland. She was trained and certified as a mediator at the University of Washington, legal education program and Vancouver Community Mediation Dispute Resolution Center.

As she embarks on the work of program coordination in The Office of Equity and Human rights, she hopes to focus on leveraging relationships to further the missions of both the Human Rights Commission and the Citywide Equity Committee.
