Drury Wood, one of the six delegates dispatched by Mayor Charlie Hales to represent Portland in its sister city Ulsan, South Korea, has been inducted into the Bob Hoover Hall of Honor in California. Only one person is inducted into the Hoover Hall of Honor per year. Other inductees include Neil Armonstrong, Chuck Yeager, and the late James Doolittle.
Wood was an ace pilot in World War II and the Korean War. He was the head test pilot for German's Dornier Do-31, the first vertical take-off and landing jet transport.
In 2012, Wood became the fist American inducted into the Friends of the Dornier Museum in Friedrichschafen, Germany.
