Neighborhood Watch

The Neighborhood Watch Program strengthens neighborhoods by bringing people together to create a shared vision of community safety. This program teaches community members to:

  • Communicate regularly using tools specific to Neighborhood Watch;
  • Recognize and report suspicious activity;
  • Increase home and vehicle security;
  • Increase personal safety of residents; and
  • Make neighborhoods less attractive to criminals.

Neighbors interested in organizing a Neighborhood Watch should contact your local Crime Prevention Coordinator and read our brochure on Establishing Your Neighborhood Watch.

Business Watch In a business district or a large office building where other topics such as shoplifting and robbery prevention, dealing with difficult people, workplace violence prevention and money handling security may be a concern, a Business Watch may be useful. Business Watch participants develop a communication system through an e-mail network to share information about potential problems and keep in touch with other local businesses. Businesses interested in organizing a Business Watch should contact their local Crime Prevention Coordinator.
