    SE Water Avenue Stormwater Outfall Urgent Replacement Project

    Environmental Services will begin construction the week of August 22nd to replace about 500 feet of 12-18 inch pipe which conveys stormwater from a central eastside neighborhood to the Willamette River. The existing pipe is deteriorating and the new pipe will efficiently convey stormwater to the river. This project will reduce the risk of flooding and stormwater backups in this area.

    The traveling public is advised to plan ahead for transit delays and street closures during TriMet’s Rose Quarter MAX Improvements project.

    News Blog: Flanders Crossing to be built over I-405, connecting Pearl District to Northwest District

    Portland’s next bridge won’t be built over water, but instead over I-405. Today it was announced that the Flanders Crossing bridge has been funded by the Oregon Transportation Commission and that construction could begin as soon as April 2018.

    NEWS ADVISORY: Commissioner Novick and Community Partners Launch Text to 9-1-1 in Portland

    Commissioner Novick and the Bureau of Emergency Communications will launch Text to 9-1-1 in Portland at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd in front of Portland City Hall. They will be joined by Chris Bouneff, Executive Director of the Oregon chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Molly Pringle, Director of Operations for Call to Safety, and Donna Nicklin, Board Director for the Oregon Association of the Deaf.

    SE Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project: August 11, 2016

    Environmental Services continues construction on the SE Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project. The project includes installing 23 green street planters, planting 100 street trees, and repairing or replacing over 10,000 feet of public sewer pipe. These improvements will extend the service life of our sewer system and protect public health, property and the environment by reducing the possibility of sewage releases into streets, homes and businesses.
