Crime Prevention Coordinators
ONI's Crime Prevention Program is a central part of Portland's community policing efforts. Crime Prevention Coordinators are non-police, professional problem solvers and community organizers. They are situated throughout the city and work primarily out of the seven district coalitions and neighborhood offices. The coordinators serve as a vital link between the community and police to problem-solve crime and livability issues.
They work with community members to initiate crime prevention measures in neighborhoods and are responsible for programs such as Neighborhood and Business Watch and Community Foot Patrol. They assist in community organizing to respond to drug and gang activity, and crime or livability issues affecting neighborhoods.
