Central Northeast Neighbors (CNN)

 

CNN E-Newsletter and E-Notifications 

Sent to 700 community members, NA board members, elected officials, community partners, City's Diversity and Civic Leadership groups, public agency staff, media contacts and other interested groups in our district and citywide.

When: Sent once a month, during the first week of the month.  All content submissions are due by the 1st of each month.

How: Submit one paragraph (150 words) containing the essential information and the relevance of this topic to our NA’s and interested partners.  Please include full contact information for contact person and a web link on how to get more information.  Include a picture when possible. The CNN e-newsletter is posted on the CNN web site each month.

Neighborhood paper newsletter

How: Distributed door-to-door by neighborhood volunteers in each of the CNN neighborhoods quarterly or other

CNN online Master Calendar of Events, Project Spotlight and What's New 

The Master calendar is posted on all CNN neighborhood web sites simultaneously

How: Submit event title, date, time, location, target audience (neighborhood, project stakeholders, or open to the community), RSVP if required and a few sentences containing the essential information and the relevance of this topic to CNN NA’s and interested partners. Please include full contact information for contact person and a web link on how to get more information.

CNN Neighborhood Planner Hot List

Weekly Digest of current planning issues and opportunities sent electronically to CNN district Land use, Transportation, and Park advocates.

Who: Send planning related announcements to billb@cnncoalition.org

 

 

East Portland Neighborhood Office (EPNO)

Newspaper: Mailing list of 6,800, goal of mailing to every household in area (57,000) at least once a year, as funding permits.

 When: Four to five times a year, during the first week of the month.  All content submissions are due by the 15th of the prior month.

How: Submit articles prior to deadline.  Articles will be published as relevance and space allows.  Photos illustrating the message are encouraged.

 Who: Send to info@epno.org or contact Teresa Hatfield, 823-4550, with any questions.

Neighborhood notifications: Mailing list varies between 100 and 400 for different  Neighborhood Associations. About a quarter to a third of the list is sent by email, the rest by mail.

When: Sent when there is an event or issue.

East Portland Website and Coalition Wide Calendar of Events

When: Updated regularly.

How: Submit announcements, stories, and updates of potential interest to East Portland residents for review. Web-ready images and graphics are encouraged.

Who: Submit to web@eastportland.org. Include contact information for the submitter.

 

Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN)

 

Michael O’Malley Neighborhoods Resource Library

A central, accessible, local coalition area resource center

Why: One location for current information relevant to inner North and Northeast neighborhoods: jobs, land use, transportation, public meeting notices, urban renewal, public safety, community involvement and projects, block parties, clean-ups, issue binders, NECN and 12 NAs meeting agendas and minutes. Increase access to information for all residents. Decrease paper use and duplicates. Increase community involvement. Increase visitations to the Northeast Coalition office.

When: During office hours. Monday through Thursday, 10AM to 3PM.

Who: Open to all.

How: Email materials to info@necoalition.org or mail/drop by to Resource Library c/o Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods, 4815 NE 7th Avenue, Portland, OR 97211 

 

Northeast Coalition’s E-Newsletter

Sent to 2,500 NA board members, community members and other interested people in our district.

When: Sent once a month, generally the first week of the month.  All content submissions are due by the 30th of each month.

How: In subject line, put “For Enews:” Submit one paragraph (150 words or less) containing the essential information and the relevance of this topic to inner North and Northeast neighborhoods and community.  Please include full contact information for contact person and a web link on how to get more information.  Include a picture when possible.

Why: To increase the understanding of public involvement opportunities by highlighting timely and relevant efforts and to minimize the number of emails to volunteer NA board members.

When: As content is collected, or individual events can be sent to the list as well.

Northeast Coalition’s Community Committees Listserves

Community Committees with representatives from area Neighborhood Associations and community members meet on a monthly or quarterly basis. The best way to reach them, beyond presenting at their meetings, is to submit an announcement or information to NECN to forward on to their listserve.

When: Anytime! As content is collected, or individual events can be sent to the list as well.

North Portland Neighborhood Services (NPNS)

 

Most North Portland neighborhood associations have individual newsletters, e-newsletters and/or websites. NPNS sends subject specific information to various email distribution/stakeholder groups focusing on land use, environmental and livability topics.

 

Neighbors West Northwest (NWNW)

 

 

Neighborhood Activist

Coalition-wide newsletter designed by NWNW staff, published monthly in the NW Examiner—a community newspaper, and mailed to approximately 29,000 households each month.

How: Bureau articles should be no more than 50 words. NWNW staff reserves the right to edit the article. Articles will be published as relevance and space allows.

Who: Send submissions to Angela Southwick, Community Resources Program Manager, angela@nwnw.org

Deadline: Monday before the 1st Saturday of the month.

Please Note: Neighborhood articles are given priority.

Activist E-news

The e-newsletter reaches approximately 366 residents via email that have selected to receive email notices.

How: Include stories of no more than 50 words. Include a link to your story on-line with the submission, if available. NWNW staff reserves the right to edit the articles. Articles will be published as relevance and space allows.

Who: Send submissions to Hanna Craig, Electronic Communications Specialist, hanna@nwnw.org.

Deadlines: Monday before the 3rd Saturday of the month.

Old Town Chinatown Crier

Quarterly newsletter produced by the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood volunteers. Local volunteers and businesses distribute at least 1500 copies each quarter.

Deadlines: The first full week of January, April, July and October

Linnton Newsletter

Linnton neighborhood volunteers produce and hand deliver a bimonthly newsletter to approximately 400 households.

How: Submit an article of no more than 150 words. Articles will be published as relevant and as space allows.

Deadlines: 10th of even number months: February, April, August, October, December

Yahoo Discussion Groups

Neighbors West-Northwest and several member neighborhood associations have Yahoo! discussion groups.

How: To post email announcements to the NWNW, Arlington Heights, Northwest District, Portland Downtown, or Sylvan-Highlands discussion groups, send an email to coalition@nwnw.org. Please specify which list.

 

Southeast Uplift (SE Uplift)

 

SE Update (E-Newsletter): Sent to 600 neighborhood association board members and other interested people in our district.

When: Sent once a month, between the 15 – 20th.  All content submissions are due by the 10th of each month.

How: Submit one paragraph (150 words) containing the essential information and the relevance of this topic to our neighborhood association’s and interested partners.  Please include full contact information for contact person and a web link on how to get more information.  Include a picture when possible.

When: updated daily with relevant and time-sensitive neighborhood/community news.

Southwest Neighborhoods Inc (SWNI)

 

SWNI E-Newsletter

Sent to 1830 NA board members and other interested people in our district.

When: Sent as needed at this time. Some NAs are using it monthly, some more often and a few are just learning about it.

How: Submit one paragraph (150 words) containing the essential information and the relevance of this topic to our NA’s and interested partners.  Please include full contact information for contact person and a web link on how to get more information.  Include a picture when possible (pdf or jpeg).

Who: Send to sharon@swni.org  Sharon Keast, 503-823-4592 with any questions.

SW Neighborhood News 

When: Published and distributed monthly to over 10,500 households in our coalition area.

How: Submit article up to 600 words containing essential information and the relevance of this topic to our NA’s and interested partners. Please include full contact information for contact person and a web link on how to get more information.

Include a picture or graphic (high resolution .jpg or .pdf) when possible. We also offer ad space, any size from 2”x 3”- to full page - or 4 page pull-out). Advertising can rates can be found on our website at http://swni.org and click on SWNI Newspaper. Submitting an article and placing an ad in another part of the paper has been very successful in reaching more readers in the past.

The deadline for ads to block space is the 10th of the month.

News deadline is the 15th of the month unless the 15th is on a weekend, then it is the Friday before.
