Input sought on East Multnomah County transportation projects
A meeting will be held on July 29th to gather public input on East Multnomah County candidate projects for federal transportation funds under Metro’s Regional Flexible Funds program. The public meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Oregon Trail and Springwater Rooms of Gresham City Hall located at 1333 NW Eastman Parkway. The East Multnomah County Transportation Committee (EMCTC) will convene the meeting. An open house from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. will be held in the same location before the public meeting.
Metro forecasts that $94.58 million in federal Surface Transportation Program and Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program funds will be allocated to the Portland region for fiscal years 2016 through 2018. While some of these funds have already been dedicated to construction of rail transit projects or will fund other transportation programs, $34.77 million is available for local projects via the Regional Flex Funds and $33.80 million through the Regional Economic Opportunity Fund.
Staff from Multnomah County and the cities of Fairview, Gresham, Troutdale and Wood Village has been working to identify potential projects in East Multnomah County. Projects must meet the criteria described in Metro’s 2016-18 project nomination process guidelines. Further information about the proposed projects is available at https://multco.us/transportation-planning/rff. Project descriptions are provided in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Russian at the following website:www.oregonmetro.gov/rffa
At the July 29th open house and meeting, staff and elected members of EMCTC will present the projects to the public for consideration and comment. EMCTC will make its final project selection at its September 9th meeting. Members of the public who aren’t able to attend the meeting can submit written comments through July 31st.
