April Hill Park Launches Indiegogo Campaign
The Friends of April Hill Park and Portland Parks & Recreation are moving forward with a project that will protect the park's wetland while creating safer access to nature for park visitors. The project, which was originally outlined in the park's 2010 Habitat Management and Trail Plan, would include a boardwalk, two bridges across Woods Creek, a viewing platform large enough to accommodate a class, and a new soft surface trail to enhance neighborhood pedestrian connectivity.
Friends of April Hill Park, in partnership with numerous community groups, was awarded an $83,059 Metro Nature in Neighborhoods Capital Grant in May toward the $250,000 project total. Maplewood Neighborhood Association has been raising matching funds for the project, and is pleased to report that less than $24,000 needs to be raised. The group needs to raise this total by December 1st in order to prepare permits for the project.
Every donation, small or large, is important! Those who contribute $10 or more can choose an incentive gift. To learn more about the project and contribute, visit: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/wild-about-the-april-hill-park-wetland/x/5016870
