The committee includes seven volunteer members who are reflective of the diversity of the Portland community. The Mayor will nominate three members, each Commissioner will nominate one member, and all members must be confirmed by Council vote. The committee must include individuals with expertise in environmental and conservation issues, labor practices, corporate ethics and governance, corporate taxation, public health and safety, and business. Initial terms are one or two years, and regular terms are two years. Individuals are limited to serving no more than four consecutive years. The committee sets its own meeting schedule but must meet twice per year and forward a recommendation to Council once per calendar year no later than October 1.
