Piedmont Sewer Repair Project Update

Piedmont Sewer Repair Project Update: July 19, 2016

DEVELOPMENTS OF NOTE

Additional sewer repairs on N Kerby Avenue just south of N Dekum Street are scheduled for this week

  • Work will begin today and is expected to take a couple days to complete.

Mainline sewer repairs using the cured in place pipe lining (CIPP) method are expected to be complete this week

  • After all mainline CIPP repairs are complete, residents should expect a period of inactivity while quality control inspections are performed.
  • Once it’s determined that the repairs meet city standards, crews will return to repair public sewer lateral pipes that connect homes and businesses to the mainline.

Crews will begin open trench construction on N Kerby Avenue between Buffalo and Morgan streets tomorrow.

  • Go www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/opentrench to learn more about open trench construction and to view photos.
  • Sewer construction on N Haight Avenue between Morgan and Bryant streets has been postponed until August.

CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

Construction hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Below is the estimated construction schedule for the next two weeks. Please be aware that this schedule is subject to change due to a variety of factors, including conditions underground, weather, traffic impacts, subcontractor schedules and availability of materials.

The rest of this week

  • N Kerby Avenue (Dekum      to Rosa Parks) – additional mainline sewer repair
  • N Kerby Avenue      (Buffalo to Morgan) – manhole, mainline, and lateral sewer pipe      construction
  • N Commercial Avenue      (Morgan to Bryant) – mainline sewer repair

Week of July 25

  • N Kerby Avenue      (Buffalo to Morgan) – manhole, mainline, and lateral sewer pipe      construction
  • N Buffalo Street      (Albina to Commercial) – later sewer construction

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION

  • Construction hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The contractor may also schedule work during the same hours on Saturdays.
  • Construction creates noise, vibration and dust and disrupts normal neighborhood activity.
  • The contractor will maintain local access, but construction may impact normal use of your driveway or entrance to your business.
  • You should expect traffic delays in and near the work area. Please observe traffic control signs and follow the directions of flaggers.
  • On‐street parking will be restricted in and near the work zones to create a safe work environment and to stage equipment and materials.
  • Some equipment and materials may be stored on your street or nearby streets overnight.
  • There may be periods of inactivity between construction phases due to a variety of factors including weather, subcontractor schedules, and availability of materials.
  • A city inspector will be on-site during work hours and may be able to assist you with an immediate need during construction.
  • Sewer, water, and other utilities will remain in service during construction.
