Neighborhood Small Grants Program

$100,000 AVAILABLE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROJECTS IN 2016

The City of Portland Neighborhood Small Grants program has $100,000 available to give out in grants to neighborhood and community organizations for community engagement projects in 2016.

The City of Portland Office of Neighborhood Involvement is partnering with Portland’s seven neighborhood district coalitions to give out the funds. The seven neighborhood coalitions and their grant funds available are: 

  • Central NE Neighbors (CNN) -- $8,146
  • East Portland Neighborhood Office (EPNO) -- $24,000
  • Neighbors West/Northwest (NWNW) -- $23,100
  • North Portland Neighborhood Services (NPNS) -- $20,000
  • Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN) -- $12,000
  • Southeast Uplift Neighborhood Coalition (SE Uplift)   -- $23,018
  • Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc. (SWNI) -- $10,676

To be eligible for grant funding a project must benefit the community in one of the coalition districts above.

Each neighborhood coalition has its own application process.

To apply for a grant, identify the district in which the project would take place, and follow the application process for that district.

    News Release: Crosswalk education and enforcement action nets 45 citations, 5 warnings on SW Capitol Highway as PBOT + Police work on Vision Zero goal to end traffic fatalities

    Education and enforcement actions such as the May 27 event are a key part of the City of Portland’s citywide effort to reach its Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

    SE Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project: May 27, 2016

    The Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project includes installing 23 green street planters, planting 100 street trees, and repairing or replacing over 10,000 feet of public sewer pipe. These improvements will extend the service life of our sewer system and protect public health, property and the environment by reducing the possibility of sewage releases into streets, homes and businesses. This project is part of the Tabor to the River Program.

    Sunnyside East Green Street and Sewer Project: Halfway through design and presentation on June 2

    In spring 2015, Environmental Services began designing a project in your neighborhood to repair or replace 4,500 feet of 100-year-old public sewer pipe that is deteriorating due to age, and add 18 green street planters to remove 2.4 million gallons of stormwater from sewer pipes. These improvements will protect public health, property and the environment and reduce the possibility of sewage releases into streets, homes and businesses.

    News Advisory (Updated with hours): Crosswalk education and enforcement action planned for SW Capitol Highway at SW Miles Street on Friday, May 27

    The Portland Bureau of Transportation and Portland Police Bureau will conduct a crosswalk safety education and enforcement action on Friday, May 27 at the marked crossing on SW Capitol Highway at SW Miles Street from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

    NW District Sewer Repair Project UPDATE

    Environmental Services is continuing construction on a project to replace about 8,000 feet of sewer pipe that is in poor condition in northwest Portland. The pipes range in size from eight to 36 inches. The project will increase sewer system capacity and help prevent sewer backups in basements. The project is expected to last up to 18 months.
