The Office of Equity and Human Rights in conjunction with DEEP (Diverse and Empowered Employees of Portland) is supporting National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) by promoting activities to raise awareness of disability employment issues and the varied contributions to America by people with disabilities. More information on the outreach and awareness for October is available at this link.
Lives Worth Living is a stirring film chronicle of the struggles and successes of the disability rights movement. It shows how Americans with many different disabilities banded together with ever-increasing militancy to fight for public access and independence. This movement demonstrated, once again, that no matter how honorable a cause may be, getting people’s attention often requires “hitting them over the head.”
The USC School of Cinematic Arts has proudly announced that Lives Worth Living has been chosen as part of the American Film Showcase for 2013/14. Visit the American Film Showcase website to view the trailer and read a short synopsis.
