Natural Area Stewardship

  • Remove invasive plants! Volunteers celebrate a great day pulling invasive Garlic Mustard

  • Plant a tree...or two, or three! Volunteers from Trillium High School planted native trees and shrubs at Whitaker Ponds

  • Bring a friend, a neighbor or a co-worker! Colleagues spend a day volunteering in Powers Marine Park

  • Explore your city! Open volunteer event at Terwilliger Nature Park.

  • Spread the love...and the mulch! Student volunteers at Columbia Children's Arboretum give their neighborhood natural area some love

  • Build something new! Students from Columbia Christian High School with Portland Parks Staff built a split rail fence at Kelley Point Park

The Natural Areas Stewardship program works with volunteers to help restore our natural ares to encourage native species regeneration, provide habitat to wildlife and insects, and provide safe trails to park visitors. We do this through various volunteer projects such as invasive species removal, native planting and plant maintenance, fence building and trail work. We host monthly volunteer events in our natural areas throughout Portland. All events are family friendly and open to all ages.
