Parks are essential to maintaining our quality of life in Portland, especially as we continue to grow. The City of Portland assesses System Development Charges, one-time fees on new development, to help fund acquisition of parkland and development of park improvements as our city grows. 

The City is in the process of reviewing and updating its Park System Development Charges (SDC). To assist in this review, a Park SDC Taskforce has been appointed. During 2013, the taskforce will advise on issues such as:

• Determining the impact and appropriate fee for dormitory residences
• Evaluating occupancy rates for all residential types
• Evaluating the updated Capital Improvement Plan for Park SDC
• Evaluating the updated rates for Park SDC

Information about taskforce discussions, the SDC methodology, and upcoming opportunities for public involvement will be posted over the course of the year.
