Westmoreland Park

Nature Play Project
The play area renovation is a pilot project for PP&R's Nature-Based Play Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to create settings in developed parks that encourage creative play and interaction with natural features.

Restoration Project
Work will begin in summer 2013 to reconstruct the stream channel in the park, plant native vegetation, and improve trail and water access. The project includes restoring the duck pond to a more natural stream channel by adding pools, riffles, and glides to improve fish habitat. Native trees and shrubs planted on the bank will shade and cool the water and improve wildlife habitat. The park will also receive new recreational amenities, including boardwalks and overlooks, seating, paths, lighting, and picnic areas. The project will implement a portion of the 2004 Westmoreland Park Master Plan. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Environmental Services (BES), Portland Parks & Recreation, TriMet, and Metro are partners in this project.
