Summer Preschool Camps, age 2-5

Welcome to SWCC Preschool Camps!

 

2 Cool Camp, age 24-35 months                                                                          
Let us be your child’s stepping stone before ‘big kid’ classes! Together, we build friendships, sing songs, create masterpieces & play active games. Group settings foster social & emotional growth which is so vital for the little ones. A gentle way to venture out of the ‘nest’, perhaps for the first time!
Day/Time: Tue, Thu Fee: $32 Location: Multi Purpose Room

Program Details

  • Small staff-to-camper ratio at 2 staff to 12 children!
  • Campers do NOT need to be potty trained; please make a potty attempt just before camp.
  • Each day, please bring a sealed bag, labeled with your child's name, that includes: full extra set of clothing, diapers or pull ups, wipes, a water bottle & nut free snack.
  • Please apply sunscreen to your child each day before coming to camp as we try to play outside whenever possible.  The outside area is gated & contained.
  • Be sure to have a medical emergency form filled out on your first day of 2015 summer camp.

Tiny Trekkers Camps                                                            
Start your summer with adventure! Make new friends, build social skills & develop teamwork in this encouraging environment. Imagination will grow through nature exploration, cooking, crafts, games & more! Start trekking!
Caterpillars- Ages 3-5 (AM)  
Day/Time: M-F 9am-1pm Fee: $110 Location: Kid Central                 
Staff:
Program Details
  • Staff-to-camper ratio is 3:20.
  • Campers must be potty trained.
  • Each day, please bring a bag or backpack, labeled with your child's name, that includes: a full extra set of clothing, water bottle, nut free snack & lunch.  
  • Please apply sunscreen at home before coming to camp; we try to play outside as much as possible, weather permitting.  Be sure to talk to your camp director about specifics on days of water play and if extra sunscreen may be needed.   
  • This camp does cooking activities, please call 503-823-2840 at least 5 days before camp begins if your child has food allergies so adaptations can be made.
  • Be sure to have a medical emergency form filled out on your first day of 2015 summer camp.

Little Adventurers Campers - Lions

Butterflies- Ages 3-5 (PM)  
Day/Time: M-F 1pm-5pm Fee: $110 Location: Kid Central

Fireflies- Ages 5-7 All Day

 
Day/Time: M-F 9am-5pm Fee: $220 Location: Drop off is in Gabriel Park, SW 42nd & Vermont lot, next to the play structure. Pick-up is in SWCC's Multi-Purpose Room. The camp will be inside in the afternoons.
Staff:  
  • Staff-to-camper ratio is 4:24.
  • Campers must be potty trained.
  • Each day, please bring a bag or backpack, labeled with your child's name, that includes: a full extra set of clothing, water bottle, 2 nut free snacks & lunch.  
  • Please apply sunscreen at home before coming to camp. Be sure to talk to your camp director about specifics on days of water play and if extra sunscreen may be needed.   
  • On Fridays please send a swimsuit & towel for slip & slide!
  • Please send your child in closed toed shoes and in weather appropriate clothing. It can be chilly in the mornings and warm by lunch so layers are best!

Summer Sprouts Camp, age 4-6                                                      
School’s out, where to next? Get outdoors & explore nature’s classroom! From underneath our feet all the way up to the stars, look for animal habitats, listen for bird songs, plant seeds & watch them grow, taste what’s in season & smell beautiful flowers. Gain lessons in the senses & sciences from Mother Nature. The sky’s the limit!
Day/Time: Mon-Fri, 9am-1pm Fee: $120 Location: Gabriel Park Community Garden,41st & Canby
Staff:
Program Details
  • Staff-to-camper ratio is 3:18.
  • IMPORTANT! This camp does NOT meet at the Southwest Community Center. It is held entirely off-site at the Gabriel Park Community Garden located off SW 41st & Canby Street.  Drop-off & Pick-up are at the community garden.
  • Campers should wear closed toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and have sunscreen applied before they arrive. Camp will run in rain- we find shelter in the forest!  Please dress in layers for cool mornings, with warming temps as the day goes on!
  • Each day, please bring a backpack that your child can carry, labeled with his/her name, that includes: a full extra set of clothes, water bottle, peanut free snack & lunch, and a wide-brimmed hat is a great idea! Please send your child in comfy clothes that you don't mind getting wet/dirty/messy.   
  • INCLEMENT WEATHER for Summer Sprouts: If NOAA forecasts excessive rain or excessive heat or Thunderstorms, Summer Sprouts will move into SWCC for the day, you will be notified between 7-7:30am for drop off at the center.  We rarely move inside; we have a cool forest canopy for those rare hotter days & in the event of light rain!
