School Year Camps
Southwest Community Center offers camps for kids when Portland Public Schools are closed to students. These camps are all single day registration, but run similarly to our summer programs. There is an overview of each camp below.
- School Year Camps resume in the fall of 2013! Registration will open in August.

- Kid's Day Off Camp: Schools out! Need something to do? Here’s just the ticket! Our thrilling & challenging activities will add excitement to your day! Explore arts & crafts, games, sports & more while having a great time making new friends in a safe environment.

Program Details
- Campers should wear closed toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and have jacket for outside play. Please bring water bottle, lunch, am & pm snack and backpack to carry personal items.
- This camp does cooking activities, please call 503-823-2840 at least 5 days before camp begins if your child has food allergies so accomodations can be made.
- Full day youth age campers swim in the afternoon. Please pack a swimsuit and towel.

- Winter Madness: Lose those ‘wintertime blues’! Make new friends, gain skills & flex your imagination through sports, crafts, & gym games. Create special presents to use as gifts for the holidays in a productive way to spend days out of school.
- Spring Break Thrills: Enjoy time off from school with action-packed, non-stop activities such as arts & crafts, sports & games, special events & more! Make new friends, discover new skills & tame that excess energy.
- Sports Madness: Sample an athletic smorgasbord! Enthusiasm & excitement abound participating in traditional games while discovering new ones. Activities suit both the established & aspiring athlete. Emphasis on team play, cooperation & participation ensure a positive experience for all.

| Spring Break Camp - Jr Leader, Grade 7-10 |
| Looking for something to do this summer? Gain leadership & volunteer experience in a supervised environment that enhances self-esteem, promotes positive self-image & develops the spirit of volunteerism. Training provides skills to work with youth in a recreation setting where upon successful class completion, Jr. Leaders may be placed as volunteers in summer camps, classes & events at Portland Parks & Recreation sites. |

- Jr. Leaders should wear closed toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and bring a jacket.
- Handbook is provided at first class.
- Jr. Leaders need to complete Emergency Form. Summer Schedule Request forms will be emailed out in May for Summer 2013 placement.
