School Year Camps

East Portland Community Center offers camps for kids on the majority of the days when Portland Public and David Douglas schools are closed to students. These camps are all single day registration, but run similarly to our summer programs. There is an overview of each camp program below.

 

Kid's Day Off Camps this Year:

  • Friday, November 29th (Day after Thanksgiving)
  • Wednesday, December 18th (Parent’s Night Out)
  • Monday, January 20th (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
  • Monday, February 18th (President’s Day)
  • Friday, December 20th (Parent’s Night Out)
  • Winter Break: 12/23, 12/26-27, 12/30-31, 1/2-3
  • Spring Break: 3/25-29

How do campers spend the day?

  • Make connections with energetic adult role-models
  • Build friendships with peers during small groups and teambuilding activities
  • Explore creative arts through craft, music and group performances
  • Stay active with sports, games & nature walks (weather permitting)
  • Splash in the pool! Campers 6yrs and up swim each afternoon
  • 3-5 yr old campers participate in circle time, free choice play, craft & sensory activities, nature walks & outdoor patio play

Day After Thanksgiving, Age 3-5 & 6-11

Kid’s Day Off Camp: Schools out! Need something to do? Here’s just the ticket! Our thrilling & challenging activities will add excitement to your day! Explore arts & crafts, games, sports & more while having a great time making new friends in a safe environment.
Age: 3-5 Half Day: 9am-1pm $20 Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Learning Center
Age: 6-11 Full Day: 9am-5pm, $32 Half Day: 9am-1pm, $18 Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Classroom #1

Program Details

  • Campers should wear closed toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing and have jacket for outside play. Please bring water bottle, lunch, pm snack and backpack to carry personal items.
  • This camp does cooking activities; please call 503-823-0206 at least 5 days before camp begins if your child has food allergies so accommodations can be made.
  • Full day youth age campers swim in the afternoon. Please pack a swimsuit and towel.

MLK Day/President’s Day, Age 6-11yrs

Parent’s Night Out, Age 6-11

Take an Evening Off: Parents, you work hard, time to take a night away from the kiddos! We will take them off your hands so you can enjoy a night out! Their night will include pizza, games, crafts, gym activities, and swimming. Come and make new friends in our safe and welcoming environment!

Age: 6-11 Evenings: 5:30-8:30pm, $15 Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Winter & Spring Break Camps, age 3-5

  • Winter Bliss: Discover! Explore! Create! Spark the imagination! Build self-esteem surrounded by an 'I can do it!' atmosphere. Improve socialization skills      & cognitive development using games, arts, crafts, music & active play.
  • Spring Break Fun: Discover action-packed days filled with arts, crafts, music, sports, active games & cooking! Playing, singing, painting & doing activities together builds teamwork, self-discipline & respect for self & others. Happy days are here again!
AM: 9am-1pm, $26 PM: 1-5pm, $20 Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Kid Central

Program Details

Winter & Spring Break Camps, Ages 6-8 & 9-11yrs   

  • Winter Madness: Lose those ‘wintertime blues’! Make new friends, gain skills & flex your imagination through sports, crafts, & gym games. Create special      presents to use as gifts for the holidays in a productive way to spend days out of school.
  • Spring Break Thrills: Enjoy time off from school with action-packed, non-stop activities such as arts & crafts, sports & games, special events & more! Make new friends, discover new skills & tame that excess energy.
  • Note: All camps will include gym and activity time and groups will be divided by age groups to better meet the needs of 6-8 and 9-11 year olds.

Program Details

  • Campers should wear closed toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and have jacket for outside play.
  • Full day campers should have one snack, waterbottle, lunch, swimsuit, towel and a backpack to carry personal items. Half day campers should have a waterbottle, lunch and a backpack to carry personal items. (A morning snack will be provided to all      campers, but feel free to bring your own).
  • This camp may do cooking and/or food related activities, please call 503-823-0206 at least 5 days before camp begins if your child has food allergies so accommodations can be made.
  • Full day campers swim in the afternoon. Please pack suit and towel daily.
  • Spring Break Thrills & Winter Madness are hosted in a classroom, gym and pool. When the weather is dry they utilize the outdoor courtyard/playground outside of building - please pack a jacket.
