Do I need to re-register?

Do I need to re-register for the next term?

Most CMC classes (except in summer) are 3-term programs: students are automatically rolled over to winter and spring term from fall unless the CMC office is notified of a withdrawal.  The activities remain at the same day and time.  See "Which classes don't roll over", below.

If you need to change the time of your private lesson, stop by the CMC office and complete a schedule change request form (note that it is not always possible to accommodate every change request).

When do I pay for the next term?

Pay by the first class of the new term.  You may pay by phone (503-823-3177) in advance to avoid potential waits in line.  We don't send out billings for classes or instrument rentals, so you need to remember to pay this tuition to avoid creating a past-due balance on your Parks & Recreation account, or potentially lose your place to a waitlisted student or have your instrument recalled.  See our payment policies for more information, including payment plans and late fees.

Which classes don't roll over?

  • Early childhood music classes (Creepers and Toddlers Explore, Exploring Together & Launch Pad to Learning) don't roll over.  You may register for multiple terms at one time, however.

  • Senior Recreation piano classes do not roll over.  Students re-enroll every term.

  • Monthly, or irregularly-scheduled classes such as Drum Circle don't roll over.

Participants re-enroll for these non-rollover activities every term (or every time for monthly/irregular classes).

Do I have a make-up?

Do I have a make-up?

You probably have a make-up if your group class had a cancellation during the term.  You can confirm this with the CMC office or your instructor.  Credits are usually issued to clients if cancelled classes are not made up; the client accounts are adjusted the week before the next term starts.

Note: if you were absent from a class that met, you do not receive a make-up or credit.

Private Lessons do not have make-ups

String lessons now run 11 weeks per school-year term (10 weeks on Mondays in Winter and Spring).  There is no make-up week.  The final week of lessons happens at the same time as the make-up week for group classes.

When are make-ups scheduled?

The instructor schedules the make-ups directly with the students.  Class make-ups are typically at the usual day and time - one week later than the last normally-scheduled class.
