GRUNT (Greenpaces Restoration & Urban Naturalist Team) is a volunteer environmental science and job skills program that connects youth to nature and environmental careers. During the programs, participants go on exciting environmental adventures, conduct real scientific research and discover the variety of natural resources career options. Our goal is to diversify the environmental field by getting urban teens interested in nature, and providing the job skills and work experiences they will need to be successful, and to encourage youth of all races, ethnicities, genders, religions and abilities to be allies.
Since 2008, 383 students have participated in one or more of these programs and are eligible for ongoing environmental education and career connection. We hope that many of these talented young people will choose careers with PP&R. And data shows us that it may be working:
All graduates are eligible for ongoing access to resources, including resume help, career counseling, and networking for jobs within PP&R.
