How do I make a picnic reservation request online?

In addition to reading the steps below, please view the instruction videos, part 1 and part 2, to understand the reservation process. Once you have a system account, making an online reservation is easy:

  • From the Reservation Home page, click on Sign In, Reservations, or Request Facility Reservation Now.
  • If you clicked Sign In first - on the home page:
         - On the next screen, enter your LOGIN and PASSWORD to  sign-in. In the upper right corner you will then see a “Welcome” message with your name. Now click on the “Reservations” tab.
         - The following screen takes you right into the Reservations landing page.
         - From this landing page you have the choice of clicking on one of two buttons
    • View Facility Calendars
    • View Location Maps  
  • View Facility Calendars
    • From this button you can search parks and possible picnic sites
    • You can view a map of each park and read about park amenities
    • And you can check each picnic site for open or already reserved dates
  • View Location Maps
    • From this button you can actually make your reservation request
    • Select your park, and then select your possible booking date
    • Review the icons for your picnic site –
      • A green picnic icon means the site is available
      • A red picnic icon means the site is already booked
      • A yellow icon means the site is unavailable – either because you are trying to book less than ten (10) days out from your booking date, or the site is closed for maintenance.
    • If the icon is green, click on it and enter a name for your picnic, then select continue
      • NOTE, if you have not already signed in to the system, you will be asked to sign in at this time. Once signed in, you  will need to click on the View Location Maps button again and proceed  with the selection of your park and picnic site (as outlined above.)
    • The following questionnaire page will determine the extent of your picnic event. You must answer all of the starred questions. These questions will affect how your picnic reservation is processed, and also may affect your fees.
    • Complete the answers and select continue.
    • The next page is for the collection of fees. Make your payment using Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
    • You will be emailed a receipt, or you can print the next screen.
  • All reservation requests will be reviewed
    • Your picnic reservation request will be reviewed by Portland Parks & Recreation staff within 2 business days.
    • If approved, you will receive an email notification that your permit has been approved.
    • If we have additional questions, we will contact you by email or by phone.
  • Additional fees may be addedto your picnic fees if PP&R staff find that you were not fully charged for your event.
    • Things that may change your booking fees are alcohol, cooking, number of people, loading and unloading of equipment, and amplified sound, in addition to other special use items.
