Second Phase of the Bond

The Parks Replacement Bond was passed in November 2014 with overwhelming voter support.  It authorized up to $68 million in general obligation bonds to make repairs and replace the most critical needs in the parks system. 

Work is underway on the first phase of the Bond - over 30 projects citywide, including playgrounds, pools, roofs, Pioneer Courthouse Square, restrooms, and park maintenance facilities.

We need your help to identify the next list of projects!

Parks is beginning to identify projects for the 2nd phase, which will have funding for approximately $20 million. 

Overview of the Second Bond Issuance Process

  • Late 2016: PP&R staff will create a draft list of projects based on the remaining funds and Bond criteria.  PP&R Citizen Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) will review and refine the draft project list as part of the City budget process.
  • Early 2017: Neighborhood Coalition parks sub-committees will review the draft list and provide feedback. Town Halls, stakeholder meetings, and online surveys will be utilized to provide broader public input opportunities.
  • Mid-2017: The BAC will review this input and provide the project list recommendation to Commissioner Fritz. Commissioner Fritz will make the second bond project list recommendation to City Council.
  • TBD: Bond issuance will fund the second list of projects.

  • Visit Portland Parks's Capital Improvement Project page to see if your project is already on the Maintenance list.  
  • Contact Maija Spencer at 503-823-5593 or if you don’t see your project listed.  Projects need to be put on the Capital Improvement Project list by August 15, 2016 to be considered for the Second Phase of Bond projects, and we can help your project get there if it meets the criteria.
