Hi everyone and Happy Friday! I hope you all enjoyed the shortened work week! We had a great holiday class on Monday with almost 30 group fitness enthusiasts sweating non-stop for two hours! I co-taught with Gail and we had a great time! We will definitely be doing a challenge class again in the future.
This week I want to talk to you about consistency. Last week I was asked by a peer ‘what motivates me to stay active?’ My response after reminding them that that is my profession, was a long list of benefits we all receive from exercising regularly. I stay motivated because of all the positive results that being fit provides: prolonged life expectancy; delaying the aging process; healthy heart and lungs; strong bones; increased balance; higher metabolism at rest; and feeling strong from the inside out to name a few. I could go on but will spare you some time. The never ending benefits of exercise only work though if you are moving your body. It is easy to get out of the groove of going to the gym regularly but by starting today, right now, you can get back on track to developing a routine for daily exercise. A body in motion tends to stay in motion, so the more you move, the more you’ll want to. We all have busy days and numerous excuses as to why we don’t have time to exercise daily, but remember you don’t have to work out for a long time to gain all the prior mentioned benefits. If you can’t remember the last time you broke a sweat it’s been too long! Let’s move together today and over the weekend.
For additional motivation this week I am including a quick ten minute workout that you can do in your house with no equipment, so no excuses!
20 jumping jacks
20 alternating front lunges
10 push ups
10 table top reach aways
20 bicycle crunches
Now that your workout is done get out and enjoy the sunny weekend! See you all in the gym!
