Invasive Plants in Natural Areas

As part of its program goals, PP&R is committed to caring for the environment in our natural areas by working to stem the invasion of non-native invasive weeds that displace our native plants. This is an essential step in restoring our natural areas and in creating healthy habitats needed to support wildlife, including salmon. It also enhances our stormwater quality. This ecosystem management process uses our IPM approach, and PP&R has been increasingly successful in removing some of the most damaging exotic plants that have invaded our park lands. There are many ongoing projects taking place and more are planned.
