PBEM joins Oregon National Guard at communications exercise

Salem Communications ExerciseLast week the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) joined personnel from the Oregon Army and Air National Guard and other partners from around the state at a training exercise in Salem focused on emergency communications.

The exercise, titled Vital Connections, ran from April 3rd to 5th at Salem’s Fairview Training Center and tested how agencies communicate with one another using mobile equipment. PBEM participated by bringing the bureau’s communications trailer to the event (see photo to the right). During a real emergency, the trailer could be deployed to support emergency responders.
