How Can I Participate?

Does the Homeless Street Count need volunteers?

Yes! We need dozens of volunteers to help conduct the count at sites throughout Multnomah County. We also need volunteers to assist with data entry following the count. If you’re interested in volunteering, please email Mary Welch, Portland Housing Bureau, at Mary.Welch@portlandoregon.gov.

Are trainings available?

An optional training is available for staff and volunteers. The same training is generally offered on several different dates, and we are also willing to provide on-site trainings for organizations with large numbers of staff or volunteers who will be participating in the count. To arrange for an on-site training at your organization, contact Kris Smock at kris@kristinasmockconsulting.com.

How else can people participate in the count?

We will be compiling a list of places where people camp throughout Multnomah County so that outreach workers can visit the camps during the week of the count. If you are aware of the locations of places where individuals or groups are sleeping outside, you can send that information to Kris Smock at kris@kristinasmockconsulting.com.
